when i did my animations the two main things i had to focus on was the anticipation and impact of my characters punches along with the correct stance/pose.
i would start off on the first frame and set up the initial stances for my character making sure its accurate to real life with a total of 24 frames i then went to the 12th frame the middle which was the impact of my punch i had to make sure the body was turning in a way that allowed a strong sense of power and impact in the punch putting weight into the blow.
next i would set up the anticipation for the punch in which my character would be pulling his arm back as to slightly wind up his punch to show the power hes putting into it his hips would also turn back with his arm allowing more power in the punch this anticipation would generally be 3 to 4 frames before the impact.
finally i would finalize and go over everything t make sure each pose and positioning was how i wanted make slight changes then the final piece would be done.
